Share

Each month, we spotlight a different DJ, producer, or artist on BPM Supreme and BPM Create. This month, we’re showing some love to DJ B-renn, the recent winner of the “Battlegories” DJ competition in his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. He has an exclusive playlist available on BPM Supreme, and threw down a routine for us, which you can watch here!

As a DJ, audio engineer, and lifelong musician, B-renn has a passion for technology and the future of music. He discovered DJing at 16 years old, and by the time he graduated college, he had quickly broken into the music scene as a top DJ in nightclubs across Pittsburgh.

Outside of the clubs, B-renn has performed at major music festivals such as Breakaway Music Fest and has a growing social media presence on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, with his popular DJ routines amassing millions of views.

We had a chance to talk to B-renn and get to know this rising star. Keep reading for more.

How old were you when you started DJing and what inspired you to start?

I discovered DJing at the age of 16 when one of my good friends from high school showed me a DJ app he had downloaded on his phone. After just a few minutes of playing around in the app, I was totally hooked. I had no idea what DJing really was at that point, but I was fascinated by the idea of manipulating music and creating transitions.

After months of using the app and making mixes, I wanted to learn more about what DJing was outside of my phone. That’s when I took to YouTube and came across videos of what real DJing looked like. After watching countless hours of concert opening sets, DJ battles like the Goldie Awards and Redbull 3Style, and the YouTube channels of guys like DJ Puffy, Skratch Bastid, Craze, and other incredible DJs/turntablists, I found my true passion for DJing.

How has the Pittsburgh scene influenced your music style?

Growing up in Pittsburgh has had a major influence on both my music taste and style as a DJ. Pittsburgh is unique in the fact that while it is a smaller city, it has an incredibly deep and proud music scene that has reached a national scale on many occasions – especially in hip hop. I was lucky enough to be a young music fan in Pittsburgh during the rise of guys like Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller, Chevy Woods, Jimmy Wopo, and many other amazing artists. They have had a lasting impact on this city and their music is played nightly throughout the clubs and parties in Pittsburgh.

What’s your biggest DJ goal?

I have a lot of goals as a DJ. I kind of want to do everything you possibly can as a DJ. But if I had to pin one down, I want to compete and win a DJ battle like the Goldie Awards or Redbull 3Style. Watching battles on that scale is what really sparked my passion for DJing, so to accomplish something like that would mean the world to me.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Hopefully competing in the battles I just mentioned before. I know I still have a long way to go before I reach that level of skill and creativity, but I’d like to think that 5 years might be a good goal!

Would you recommend BPM Supreme to other DJs?

Absolutely. I get DMs and questions from other DJs all the time about what record pools to use and BPM Supreme is always at the top of the list.

What’s your favorite feature on BPM Supreme or how do you use the platform?

I really like BPM Supreme for many reasons – great playlists, awesome exclusive edits, a really useful mobile app, and a good back catalog to name a few. But I feel the most common reason I always find myself coming back to BPM Supreme the most is for new releases. When new music drops that I’m excited for, BPM Supreme always has them ready for download with multiple versions almost instantly!

Keep up with B-renn on Instagram and download his exclusive playlist now on BPM Supreme.
